Michelle teaches Reading and Writing and Portland Community College in Portland, Oregon. She earned her PhD in Anthropology from the University of New Mexico in 2003. She’s been writing since she could push typewriter keys.
Originally from New Jersey, Michelle has also lived in Albuquerque NM, and Lyon France (where she taught at Université 2).
In 2016, at age 42, Michelle suffered a Vertebral Artery Dissection (Ischemic Stroke). After a month in hospital and rehabilitation, she underwent two craniotomies for aneurysm.
Michelle lives in Portland, OR with her husband, three children, dog, and ghosts of two cats.
She is an avid knitter, an avid reader, and an avid Batman/Batfamily fan (Jason Todd in particular).
